Anarchist in Academe

Notes from the Contemporary University

The full article is not available online, but the summary abstract is included below for reference.

Kingsley Widmer was one of the most prolific contributors to the magazine. His essays were almost always a blend of the personal and the political. He railed against authority, hypocrisy and the vapidity of the elites. In this essay, quite typical of his approach to education, he begins with a diatribe against the mundanity of Creative Writing, proceeds to an analysis of three major critics of the current state of education, and concludes that — at best — the very scale and format of the university needs to change.
